The Co-Ni-arsenide ore deposits of the Bou Azzer district in Morocco are represented by specific multistage mineralization formed in different geodynamic settings that led to changes in the tectonic regime, magmatism, and features of ore-forming processes. Several Co-Ni-As-Au-Ag-mines of the Bou Azzer district are in operation now. Co-Ni-arsenide mineralization is structurally controlled and located along the contacts of Neoproterozoic peridotite and quartz diorite intrusions with Precambrian volcanic rocks. Ore minerals in quartz-carbonate veins are represented by arsenides, sulfoarsenides, and sulfides. Ore veins are mainly composed of chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, Cu-Zn sulfides, pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, and tetrahedrite. Co-rich ores predominate in most deposits of the Bou-Azzer district. The main ore minerals are arsenides including skutterudite (Co As3), safflorite (Co As2), lollingite (Fe As2), nickeline (Ni As), rammelsbergite (Ni As2), Ni-Co-arsenides, and sulfoarsenides (arsenopyrite and gersdorffite). Native Au (15 wt % Ag) often occurs as disseminations in Ni-Co-arsenides and quartz. Ni-rich arsenides as nickeline (? 48 wt % Ni) with Co impurity (? 0.1 wt %) were deposited in the beginning of the hydrothermal process, and Ni-poor arsenides with variable Ni amounts (? 20 wt %) and very high Co contents (up to 18 wt %) crystallized by the end of the process. A sequence of mineral deposition from Ni-monoarsenides to Ni-Co-diarsenides and Co-triarsenides demonstrates the increasing redox-potential and the lowering Ni concentration during deposition. The main ore elements (Co, Ni, Fe, As) were originally leached from serpentinites by acid magmatic fluids under moderately reducing conditions at the high value of fluid and rock ratio. Deposition of ore minerals occurred from the ore-forming fluids due to an increase in pH and oxygen fugacity in the result of magmatic fluids mixing with meteoric water. On the basis of the expert assessment of the ore district by a joint research team from Russia, criteria for local predicting and proposals to increase economic potential of the Bou Azzer ore district have been recommended.
